The website do-it-in-sg.ch (hereinafter referred to as the “website”) is an information portal on the subject of founding, innovating and investing in the Canton of St.Gallen. The following legal information applies to the entire website.

The information provided on the website is intended to give the public an overview of the tasks and activities of the Canton of St.Gallen’s Location Promotion organisation and of the Office for Economy and Labour and their partners in relation to the topic of founding, innovating and investing. In the interest of easy access to information, we have refrained from presenting detailed legal analyses. The information provided is therefore no substitute for a judgement in individual cases.
The information published on the website is not binding on the administrative authorities applying the law when interpreting and applying the applicable law in specific individual cases. This does not apply to instructions on official forms and information sheets that specifically inform those affected about the application of legal provisions by the cantonal administration or that specify legal requirements.
Cantonal and federal courts are not bound by the information provided on the website.

In this data protection declaration, you will find information on how we handle your personal data within the context of our information activities. This includes the following situations and activities:

The public body the Office for Economy and Labour is responsible under data protection law for the data processing described in this data protection declaration within the meaning of Art. 3 DSG-SG.

Personal data processed during communication and service provision
Data provided
We collect the information you provide to us when you contact us. This includes general personal data, e.g. name and contact details, and, if applicable, details of your position or role at the organisation on whose behalf you are contacting us.
When you enquire about our services, we collect information about the service requested. If you order chargeable services, we will also request financial data, namely your preferred payment method (e.g. credit card or mobile payment method) and the billing address.
Data collected
We also collect personal data from public registers or websites to the extent necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this data protection declaration.
Provision and use of the website
Use for information
You can use the information offered on the website without telling us who you are.
As with any connection to a web server, the server on which we make the website available automatically logs and saves certain technical data and stores it for a short period of time. This includes the IP address and operating system of your device, the date and time of use, and the type of browser you use to access the website.
Web analysis
We use a web analysis service (currently Siteimprove) to evaluate use of the website and to obtain information for its optimisation. The web analysis service collects user data using cookies and stores the usage data for a short period of time. When web analyses are performed, the last bit of the requesting IP address is removed directly. You can use suitable browser settings to prevent the web analysis service from collecting data about your use of the website.
Resources from external websites
In some cases, we integrate resources from external servers on our website. These contain visible content (videos, maps) and technical resources (fonts). When these resources are accessed, the operator of the external server learns your IP address and/or certain marginal data that is necessary for use of the external operator’s server. You can prevent this by using suitable browser settings.

We process your personal data in order to fulfil our information and publication obligations in accordance with legal requirements and to document and invoice the relevant services. This also includes data processing for the following purposes:

Place of processing
We store and process your personal data in connection with the processing described in this data protection declaration primarily in Switzerland and the EU. However, we also integrate video content and maps from providers in the USA into the website. We disclose data to countries without an adequate level of data protection on the basis of standard data protection clauses.
Your rights in relation to your personal data
You have the following rights under the DSG-SG in relation to personal data concerning you:
- The right to receive information about what personal data we store about you and how we process it;
- The right to view personal data on site;
- The right to receive a copy of your personal data;
- The right to rectification of your personal data;
- The right to the erasure of your personal data;
- The right to object to the disclosure of your personal data to third parties (blocking).
